Davina and I opened Playful Grounds for the parents, not for the kids. This isn't about the kids. Foreign concept, I know, since everything we do is about the kids. This is actually for you, the person reading this. We wanted to open a cafe where parents can be adults. Make no mistake, this really isn't a play area. It is a distraction. It is relief and convenience for the parents. The only way parents can enjoy themselves is when the kids are occupied, so that is what we set out to do. I know I'm preaching to the converted here, but just in case someone who didn't know such a place existed or if you know anyone who you think would benefit from this whole concept, I thought I would describe it plain and simple.

Well, the fabulous wit represented in my past blog entries didn't carry over when I redid the site, so I will have to actually cut and paste it all. So for any of you who have missed my previous ramblings and are remotely interested, you'll just have to wait a bit. This is the new blog for the new daytime site.

Why, you may ask, did we change the site? Well, we realized that while parents may be totally willing and able to spend time navigating a site with lots of stuff on it, be prepared to accept that the quiet little cafe where they spend their days with their wee people also runs nighttime activities and adores the fact that we serve alcohol, the reverse is not necessarily true for 'sans kid' grown-ups. So we decided it would be prudent to have two sites. One for the daytime crowd and one for the nighttime crowd. Since we're starting up all sorts of fun stuff for the summer, like comedy, jazz, magic, art openings etc...., we thought a crisp new logo and site to match would make things easier for everyone to navigate. Besides, I have so much time on my hands that I wanted to make a whole new website (insert sarcastic roll of the eyes here)!

Anyway, I will continue to add to both sites. Please feel free to go through it and give me some feedback! All of you are welcome to attend our night events! The ones we've had so far have been really fun, full of laughs and booze. And it's a great excuse to get away from the kids for a few hours!
